This Weekend - Personal Care

Welcome to Summer!

For those of you who have not participated in the Market during the summer, here are a few tips:

  • It can be miserably warm – know that going into the day, and you will be happier. If you don’t want to be in the heat, stay at home (we understand)

  • Our market hours will remain the fixed hours unless change is deemed necessary by the event manager due to public safety. Do not break down/leave early

  • DO hydrate constantly – seriously, always have a bottle of something in your hand and drink from it. We’ve had 6 emergency calls in the last two weeks (our record is 14 in one day) – don’t be that person! If you pump water into your body all day, you will be better off.

  • If someone is having a heat-related issue, ask for help at the front desk. We have CPD onsite, they have radio network to EMS, and we have waters, ice and other items to aid them. With the crowds we attract, it’s going to happen – be on the lookout for your patrons, neighbors and yourself!

Generally speaking, people are a bit grumpy the first hot weekend of every season – and then they settle into the new normal. Try to keep that in mind as you interact with others… they are just as uncomfortable as you are.

Finally, we have several people out this upcoming weekend for a variety of reasons – and Father’s Day is generally a good turnout. I will see you on Sunday, try to stay cool out there!

I didn’t know about the water/ice/CPD at the front desk. This is a great service and great to know.
