We’ve noticed a flurry of inaccurate reporting in the news these last few days regarding our events and our vendors. Several of the stations are attempting to sensationalize the tariff situation by linking its effects to our vendors. PLEASE do not talk to the press regarding this or you are subjecting yourself to being misrepresented! It has happened.
Many of these reporters are young and inexperienced and are not being fact checked by their stations. We KNOW your products are being made by you. We are a producer only market. This is a time period in life where Chattanooga Market can shine - local is better! Tariffs or not, we want people to come buy local from you. This is our message.
If you are in question about the intent/validity of a reporter asking you for a quote, email me and I’ll be happy to help. Melissa@chattanoogamarket.com
Yes to this! The Chattanooga market is one of the best, dare I say few, maker’s markets in the country
Customers who are not makers and not creators of things don’t always understand the difference.
They can’t really see the difference between something that has been purchased or made in another country that is similar to what one of us might make. And when they find out that they purchase something that’s sold by people who are not really making them, they get confused. And then they lump us all together.
We are so grateful to be in this market. It is such a rare and wonderful place to interact with customers and it allows us who are by the virtue of having only our hands in our heads to bring different things to the market, things that have a bit of soul in them.
I agree that this time in these times we can shine a little bit on all the creative people that populate and produce for the Chattanooga market
Thank you for the heads up. We did see one reporter on Saturday. But he didn’t ask anything about the tariffs. So we will be aware.
